Recipes Using the Sweetner Agave Nectar

Agave nectar is a commercial sweetner produced in Mexico from several different agave plant species. The juice is pressed from the plants core, then heated and filtered to hydrolyze polysaccharides into simple sugars. Different species of agave can be processed differently, giving you a different color and viscosity of sweetner.

There are several different things you can make with this all natural sugar including some diabetic friendly and gluten free items such as pecan pie and berry crisp. To make the diabetic friendly pecan pie you need but 5 ingredients: 1.5 cups pecan pieces (toast them at 350 for 10 minutes), 1.5 cups Madhava Amber Agave, 3 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla, and one pre-made pie crust or, any pie crust recipe.

Once you have all of your items, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Beat the eggs, agave and vanilla together until they become creamy and smooth. Add in your pecan pieces and mix those in as well. Once your pie crust is prepared, fill it with the pecan mixture and bake your pie for 40 minutes. Once it is finished, you will want to refrigerate the pie for at least two hours so everything sets up nice and firm.
