Agave Nectar: Good or Bad in Foods?
Most people are aware of agave nectar that has been used in foods for many years, and is a sweetener that comes highly recommended. The reason for this recommendation is the fact that this type of sweetener does not cause spikes in blood sugar, which is great for those that may have to constantly monitor their blood sugar levels. However, there are those that are stating that agave nectar is something that the person should not be using in excess because it does contain fructose which as most people know is something that people are against. So the question is: is agave nectar in foods good or bad?
The best answer to this question is to look at what agave nectar can do for the person. They are going to find that even those that are diabetic can eat this and still enjoy that sweet taste that other people may take for granted. Some studies are pointing to the fact that even though agave nectar may contain fructose, they find that it does contain ingredients that are great at fighting against colon cancer, yet another benefit of using this in foods.
Agave nectar is also high in inulin which has been something that has been used for centuries in order to keep the body healthy and is found in other foods such as garlic, onions and so forth. With this being known, agave nectar would seem to be one of those items to add to list for those that want to make sure that they are living a life that is full and healthy.
So the ultimate question, is it good to have agave nectar in foods? It has been recommended for years, and thus far there is no scientific research to prove that this is in any way dangerous to those that eat this. However, as with all things, moderation is the key to maintain healthy levels.
